Meet Deborah

A steady local voice for Bar Harbor.

I was born and raised in Caribou, Maine, and moved to Bar Harbor in 2005 for a year-round management position at Sherman’s Bookstore. I later managed West End Drug before joining my partner, Steve, in purchasing and operating the Black Friar Inn and Pub.

As a year-round Bar Harbor resident, I have built deep roots in the community through my work in some of the town’s long-standing local businesses and through the friendships and connections I have made here. My years in customer service have shaped my commitment to listening, finding common ground, and bringing people together across different perspectives.

I am running for Town Council because I am committed to helping Bar Harbor move beyond division and return to a spirit of understanding, support, and respectful disagreement. I believe the town’s greatest strength is its people, along with its landscape, environment, and connection to Acadia National Park.

As a small business owner, I am proud to support Bar Harbor’s local economy and nonprofit community, including the Food Pantry, Serendipity, the YWCA, and the Jesup Library. I am dedicated to serving the town I call home with openness, care, and a focus on community.
